Social impact and responsibility

Social Impact and Responsibility

Impact is shaped by the everyday choices we make.

At Juniper, impact is built into how we operate. It shows up in who we employ, who we partner with, how we source and how we support the organisations we work with.

This is not a standalone initiative. It is part of our day-to-day decisions and long-term approach.

We focus on steady, practical action rather than big statements, creating impact that is meaningful, measurable and sustainable.

Local Recruitment

We prioritise recruiting locally to strengthen local knowledge, keep wages within the communities we serve and reduce travel emissions. We also support pathways into employment through our partnership with Springboard as a Corporate Patron.

We are a Living Wage Employer proudly working with the Living Wage Foundation to champion the real Living Wage and change the service industry for the better. We believe in paying a decent wage to our staff, who carry out vital work for many organisations, and therefore always provide a real Living Wage.

Training and Progression

We invest in development, apprenticeships and clear progression pathways so people can build long-term careers, not just short-term roles.

Long-term Partnerships

We focus on building trusted relationships with schools, trusts and public organisations, rather than operating on short-term, transactional contracts.

Responsible Suppliers

We work with suppliers who share our values around quality, ethics and accountability.

{

“They embraced Students’ Voice with intention, listening to pupils, adjusting service, and acting on what mattered. Juniper’s partnership strengthened that effort, and together they delivered real, measurable progress.”

DigiTally

More Responsible Food Systems

Through our partnerships with Ample and Street Box, we support better access to fresh fruit and vegetables and strengthen more sustainable supply chains.

Waste Reduction

Our partnerships help divert food waste from landfill and supports its use in renewable energy generation.

Environmental Accreditation

Our NCZ Gold accreditation demonstrates measurable action towards net zero commitments rather than empty targets.

{

“Juniper has recycled 19.5 tonnes of food waste so far in 2025 across 68 school sites, equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions of up to 16 cars. Each collection converts food waste into renewable energy and biofertiliser, supporting a circular approach to school catering.”

Beyond the Core Service

We look for practical, credible ways to contribute beyond contractual delivery, focusing on long-term impact rather than one-off initiatives.

Our approach is steady and intentional. It is part of how we operate, not a separate initiative.
